Începe cu that, whether / if, what, how, why, who, where, when:
| Rolul | Exemplu |
|---|---|
| subiect | What she said surprised me. |
| complement | I don't know whether he'll come. |
| după be | The problem is that we have no money. |
| după prepoziție | It depends on how much it costs. |
That
That introduce un fapt. Ca complement, adesea îl poți omite: I think (that) you're right.
That he lied is obvious. → It is obvious that he lied.
E evident că a mințit.
Whether și if
Pentru o întrebare de tip da / nu, folosești whether sau if. Doar whether merge:
- ca subiect: Whether he agrees is not important.
- după prepoziție: It depends on whether it rains.
- înainte de infinitiv: I can't decide whether to go.
- cu or not imediat după: whether or not you like it
Whether we win or lose doesn't matter.
Nu contează dacă pierdem sau câștigăm.
What, how, why
What înseamnă „ceea ce, ce”:
What matters most is your health.
How he managed to escape remains a mystery.
Spui I wonder where she lives, nu I wonder where does she live.
The fact that
Folosești the fact that:
Despite the fact that it was raining, we went out.
În ciuda faptului că ploua, am ieșit.
I'm worried about the fact that nobody called.
Mă îngrijorează faptul că nu a sunat nimeni.
