| Vorbit (verbe) | Academic (substantive) |
|---|---|
| Prices rose quickly. | There was a rapid rise in prices. |
| The government decided to close the factory. | The government's decision to close the factory… |
| If you fail to pay, … | Failure to pay will result in… |
| Because the trains were late, … | Owing to the late arrival of the trains, … |
Sufixe frecvente
| Verb / adjectiv | Substantiv |
|---|---|
| decide | decision |
| fail | failure |
| develop | development |
| analyse | analysis |
| refuse | refusal |
| able | ability |
| important | importance |
| aware | awareness |
- adverbul devine adjectiv: rose rapidly → a rapid rise
- subiectul devine posesiv sau complement cu of: the company expanded → the company's expansion / the expansion of the company
- apare un verb nou, adesea general: led to, resulted in, caused, there was
The population grew rapidly, so the city needed more housing.
The rapid growth of the population led to a demand for more housing.
Substantivele nominalizate cer adesea o prepoziție fixă: an increase in, a decrease in, a demand for, a solution to, an effect on, a reduction in, the cause of, a lack of.
