Structura unei știri
O știre răspunde la cinci întrebări: who (cine), what (ce), where (unde), when (când) și why (de ce). Primul paragraf le conține pe cele mai multe:
A fire broke out in a warehouse on Monday night. Fifty people were evacuated and two were taken to hospital. The cause of the fire has not been found yet.
Un incendiu a izbucnit luni noaptea într-un depozit. Cincizeci de persoane au fost evacuate, iar două au fost duse la spital. Cauza incendiului nu a fost încă găsită.
Ai recunoscut pasivul din lecțiile 26–27 (were evacuated, has not been found): în știri apare des, pentru că contează ce s-a întâmplat, nu cine a făcut.
Limbajul titlurilor
Titlurile sunt scurte, așa că dispar cuvintele mici:

Regulile: lipsesc articolele și verbul be; evenimentele din trecut apar la Present Simple; viitorul se arată cu to + verb.
Cum povestești o știre
Când o spui mai departe, folosești propoziții complete și arăți sursa:
According to the article, two people were injured.
Potrivit articolului, două persoane au fost rănite.
The article says that the bridge will open in June.
Articolul spune că podul se va deschide în iunie.
It was reported that fifty people were evacuated.
S-a relatat că cincizeci de persoane au fost evacuate.
Poți adăuga și părerea ta: In my opinion, the report is not accurate.
I read an article about a bridge in our town.
According to the article, the old bridge was closed on Monday because of cracks in the road. It was reported that traffic was stopped for several hours, but nobody was injured.
The article says that engineers will check the bridge this week. It also says that the bridge will open again in June.
In my opinion, the report is useful, but it doesn't say how much the repairs will cost.
Traducere în română
Am citit un articol despre un pod din orașul nostru.
Potrivit articolului, podul vechi a fost închis luni din cauza crăpăturilor din carosabil. S-a relatat că circulația a fost oprită câteva ore, dar nimeni nu a fost rănit.
Articolul spune că inginerii vor verifica podul săptămâna aceasta. Mai spune că podul se va deschide din nou în iunie.
După părerea mea, relatarea este utilă, dar nu spune cât vor costa reparațiile.
