Cât de sigur ești?
Când vorbești despre viitor, rareori ești 100% sigur. Engleza are cuvinte pentru fiecare grad de certitudine. Din A2 (Lecția 21) știi deja might și may:
| Cât de sigur ești | Expresii |
|---|---|
| sigur că da | will definitely, is bound to, I'm certain that |
| foarte probabil | will probably, is likely to, I expect |
| posibil | might, may, could, perhaps, maybe |
| puțin probabil | is unlikely to, probably won't, I doubt that |
| sigur că nu | definitely won't, there's no chance |
She's bound to win. She's the best player in the club.
Sigur va câștiga. E cea mai bună jucătoare din club.
It's likely to rain this afternoon.
E probabil să plouă după-amiază.
He's unlikely to agree with us.
E puțin probabil să fie de acord cu noi.
be bound to, be likely to, be unlikely to
După aceste expresii vine to + forma de bază:
He is bound to be late. They are likely to say yes. She is unlikely to call.Cu I doubt (mă îndoiesc), propoziția rămâne afirmativă, fiindcă îndoiala e deja în verb: I doubt that he'll come. Alte expresii utile: There's a good chance that… (sunt șanse mari să…), There's no chance that… (nu există nicio șansă să…).
Unde pui adverbele
Adverbele definitely și probably stau după will, dar înainte de won't:
She will probably win. / She probably won't win.
Probabil va câștiga. / Probabil nu va câștiga.
He will definitely come. / He definitely won't come.
Sigur va veni. / Sigur nu va veni.
