În contexte formale (e-mailuri de serviciu, rapoarte, întâlniri) nu spui „fă asta”, ci recomanzi sau sugerezi cu grijă. Engleza are o structură specială pentru asta, numită conjunctiv (subjunctive): după verbe ca suggest, recommend, insist sau după expresii ca it is essential, verbul din propoziția cu that rămâne la forma de bază, fără -s și fără timp.

Forma de bază înseamnă: he start (nu he starts), she be (nu she is), the form be signed (nu is signed). În engleza britanică poți folosi și should, iar în vorbirea obișnuită poți auzi și forma cu -s.
