Când spui că există ceva într-un loc, folosești:
- there is (forma scurtă there's) pentru un lucru;
- there are pentru mai multe lucruri.
There's a bank near my house.
Lângă casa mea este o bancă.
There are two bedrooms in our flat.
În apartamentul nostru sunt două dormitoare.
There's a cat in the garden.
În grădină e o pisică.
There are a lot of people here.
Sunt mulți oameni aici.
Forma negativă

Any se folosește de obicei în negații și întrebări cu plural: There aren't any chairs. (Nu sunt deloc scaune.) Vei învăța mai mult despre some și any în Unitatea 8.

- there is = spui că ceva există (prima dată când îl pomenești);
- it is = descrii ceva deja pomenit.
