Much, many și a lot of arată o cantitate mare: „mult” sau „mulți”.
Many sau much?
|---|---|---|
| many | numărabile la plural | many people, many books |
| much | nenumărabile | much money, much time |
There aren't many people here.
Nu sunt mulți oameni aici.
I haven't got much time.
Nu am mult timp.
A lot of: în propoziții afirmative
|---|---|---|
| I've got a lot of friends. | I haven't got many friends. | Have you got many friends? |
| She drinks a lot of coffee. | She doesn't drink much coffee. | Does she drink much coffee? |
How many? How much?
How many brothers have you got?

How many people are there?

How much water do you drink?
Câtă apă bei?
How much time have we got?

Cât costă? How much…?
How much se folosește și pentru preț:

It's fifteen euros.
Costă cincisprezece euro.
How much are these shoes?
Cât costă pantofii aceștia?
They're forty pounds.

- a few + numărabile: a few friends (câțiva prieteni);
- a little + nenumărabile: a little milk (puțin lapte).
I've got a few questions.
Am câteva întrebări.
Can I have a little sugar, please?
